Materials:
Go outside and find different animals or insects. As a class try to determine what each uses for a home (shelter), Food, Water, and space. Use magnifying glasses to check out the area around the animals/insects. Then as a class discuss what makes up our own habitat.

Group Activity
Materials
- water
- outdoor items (sticks, leaves, grass, rocks, ect...)
- stuffed animals or toys of creaturs found in your area (desert: jack rabbits, coyotes, scorpions, spiders, butterflies, ect...)
- Cardboard box or container per group

Give each group a stuffed animal or insect that they may find outdoors. Have them create a habitat that their animal/insect may live in.

How would you protect yourself outside from the cold winter, hot summers if you didn't have a house?
What are some different environments that your animals could live in other than the desert?
What would happen to the animal if all the water dried up? Why?
