Class Demonstration
Materials:
Place the wind chimes outside each day. Place the bucket outdoors (empty) with the paint stick inside. Put the colored construction paper outside with the large rocks on top of them. As a class observe the different items outdoors. Explain that we are going to keep a journal of the weather. These items are going to be our tools to measure weather. Each day go outside and listen to the wind chimes to see if the wind is blowing. Record if you hear it or not, and if they are loud or soft. Look at the thermometer and see if the temperature is hot or cold. Look in the bucket to see if there is
any rain/snow fall. Mark it on the stick and record it in the journals. Then check the construction paper to see if the color changed at all from the sun
shining on it. Compare it to the part under the rock. As a class discuss the changes in weather from day to day.
