Class Demonstration
Materials:
Show everyone in the class the water and the shaved ice. How are they the same? How are they different? Predict what will happen to the ice/snow if we put it under the heat lamp. Put the ice under the heat lamp and have everyone watch. What happened to the ice/snow? Is it the same? Then put
the water into ice trays and stick them in the freezer. After some times pull them out and compare them to the water. What happened to the water? Is it the same?

Class Activity
Materials:
Fill one tub with water and the other with ice shavings or snow. Allow students a chance to feel the different tubs. Have them explain the differences between the two. Allow them to try to change the snow/ice shavings into water. Then provide them with the pictures. Have them place each picture by the tub they go with. Rain goes to water and a snowy mountain goes to snow. Have them explain the temperature differences between the two.
